Description

Hi, my name is Cindy and for over 30 years I dedicated my life in helping others in my community by protecting the vulnerable as a police officer/Security Risk Manager in South Africa to my ultimate dream job at the age of 51, caring for seniors and those in need. I am now almost 55 years old.

My life’s motto has always been that a kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.

Everybody has a remarkable lifetime story and deserving of the utmost respect and opportunity to continue living independently as possible.

Besides live in care, I have also worked with patients in a hospital environment: The A&E department for over 3 years and currently work in the oncology departments caring for patients undergoing cancer care treatment including end of life care. I have often cared for patients with dementia, chronic conditions and I also have experience with patients suffering from anxiety and depression. I always approach each patient with gentleness and compassion for that is only love with its work boots on.

I work well with other care team members, such as doctors, and also with supporting family members. As Brett H Lewis perfectly says, “Doctors diagnose, nurses heal, and caregivers make sense of it all”

I am experienced in personal grooming and I enjoy helping clients look their best. I can assist with hygiene, toileting, eating, cleaning and any administrative tasks which need support. I absolutely love cooking delicious meals for my clients.

In my private time I enjoy art, painting with oils, gardening and Latin dancing.

Please get in touch if you think I could help you. Contact me, and I’ll reply as soon as I can. Thank you.

I worked with Cindy over a period of several months in Southampton General Hospital (UHS) Emergency Department. Cindy joined us as an inexperienced HCA, working in the Department via NHSP. She very quickly proved herself as a highly compassionate and competent member of our team. Cindy was able to nurse patients safely. She performed clinical tasks such as simple obs, ECGs and urinalysis, and consistently demonstrated the ability to escalate clinical concerns based on her findings. One lasting memory of working with Cindy was when she and I stayed late after the end of a night shift so that we could remain in a Majors side room with a dying patient. This gentleman was actively, and rapidly, dying. While I managed medications and sat on one side holding a hand, Cindy sat opposite and stroked his hair and spoke to him softly until he died. She is, without a doubt, the most compassionate and genuinely loving HCA I have ever worked with. While she doesn't outwardly express it at work (as is appropriate), her religion and faith guides her character. She's a gem. I worked with her in the capacity of Senior Staff Nurse. While I was not her line manager, I am more than happy to support her application to any role within healthcare. Joshua Aicken-Bowley, BN (Hons), RN. NMC: 19H1507E
